Warehouse is the safe place where all the inventories are placed in safest possible manner. In any manufacturing company, usually all the items are kept in a warehouse in an organized manner so that whenever it needs to be sent to any customer, it can be easily accessed and transported to the customer.

Therefore, while storing any goods in a warehouse it has to be done in a thoughtful manner, otherwise it can create a big confusion to access the item.  Following are few things to be considered while organizing your inventory in the warehouse.

• Assess the demand of item

You must decide which items are most moving items from the store and has more demand. These items must be stored in such place so that it can be easily assessed. By looking at your sales order, you need to organize the placement of the goods. You must keep the popular items which will move fast out of the store close to delivery area so that your staff may not need to waste too much energy in searching and moving the item.

• Create a proper mapping and labeling

Think of a warehouse where large variety of items are placed in a box. Therefore, as an in-charge of store, you need to know the location of each item in a warehouse. In order to do that you need to group your item and store the particular group of items in their designated place. So, you must have a map with you for each group of items.

Also, you have to look in warehouse for boxes for any particular item. Having known the area where any particular group of items are stored, you need to search the particular item from the group. In order to identify that, you must have proper labeling of each box so that the item can be easily identified.

• Inventory management

You have to maintain a proper record of items entering in your warehouse and the items leaving so that it is possible for you to know at any given point of time what is available in your warehouse and where are they located. Hence you need proper inventory management system in place.

• Cleaning and upkeeping

It is very important that items stored in the warehouse must be carefully kept so that their condition remains in perfect order. You must make arrangement to keep the goods protected from atmospheric conditions.
